Tis The Season

The best time of the year has officially started. It’s a very busy time for us, we have so many movies and TV shows to watch that, just like last year, we had to create a spreadsheet. Each lunchtime, dinner and evening is planned and, when we’re not watching TV, we’re playing World of Warcraft.

Dragonflight’s launch was excellent, no queue and no lag. I haven’t seen that since the launch of The Burning Crusade! We’re having a blast with the new expansion, it has a more real World of Warcraft flavour to it and a lot of great quests. Dragon flying is a ton of fun, especially after having collected more glyphs.

We have built a few new Lego ornaments for our tree and two small trees for our desks. But the greatest new piece is the Christmas train (featured picture). It isn’t complete yet, we’re taking our time, building it while watching the TV Show The Santa Clauses, which is surprisingly good.

We won’t have much time to post in the coming weeks but we’ll try to catch back later. Meanwhile, enjoy the season, get fat, spoil yourselves and have fun.

It’s Fucking Halloween!

Being horror fans, Halloween has always been a special day for us. We decorate our table, we eat Sisqi’s infamous pumpkin pastas and we watch horror movies.

This year, we’ll spend our afternoon hunting Baa’l, World of Warcraft’s Secret Demonic Goat. Then, we’ll watch Halloween Ends (which is very scary, not because of the horror, but because of the extremely bad reviews), followed by the new Hellraiser.

When you celebrate Halloween in a country like Belgium, where barely anyone decorates his house and no trick or treating is going on in the streets, you can’t help but feel lonely. That’s why I’ll be playing Caroline Kornstar’s Lonely Halloween until our ears bleed, because something has to bleed on Halloween, right?!

Pancakes & Try Outs

It’s Sunday and Sisqi is baking pancakes. That sentence alone makes me happy because pancakes are awesome. Pancakes are life!

This afternoon, we’ll be doing a few tests.

As we’re getting closer to Dragonflight, we’re testing a few classes to replace our long time hunter mains. This afternoon, we’ll be giving another chance to the Druid since the class seems to be in a great shape for the new expansion. Also, we’ve always been Druid fans.

Don’t ask me how it happened, but we actually have two sets of new gaming chairs at home and we have to decide which one we prefer. On one hand, we have the Secret Lab Titan Evo 2022, which is very solid and shows a great quality in its materials but feels very hard on our backs and buts. On the other hand, we have the DXracer Formula F08, which is more comfortable but feels a bit wonky and the armrests aren’t great at all.

Voilà, the pancakes are ready. I’m on my way to food heaven…

Edit 1: The pancakes were delicious!

Edit 2: We’re not sure that we could main Druid an entire expansion. In its present state, certainly not, but everything is about to change on Wednesday with the new talent system. We maybe won’t have to cast Starfire 400 times/hour, which is really mind nuking. So, at the moment, our hunters may very well stay our main characters for Dragonflight.

Edit 3: The Secret Lab chair is harder but the armrests are much better placed and feel softer on our elbows. Also, we’re getting used to the harder backrest. However, both chairs have pros and cons, we need more time to decide.

They’ve Caught The Puppet Master

The Belgian police has arrested Robert Hendy-Freegard – aka The Puppet Master – in Groot-Bijgarden, Brussels (pretty close to where I live, actually).

He’s a famous British conman who masqueraded an MI5 agent to coerce money out of people and to pressure them to do his bidding. If you wanna know more about him, I advise you to watch the Netflix documentary The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman, it’s very entertaining.

One last question won’t probably be answered… While most of his victims were coerced, the woman with whom he disappeared didn’t seem persuaded to follow him. Her kids seem certain that he dragged her into his schemes, the way he did with his previous victims, but I’m not sure that she didn’t follow him willingly.

Apparently, Freegard and Sandra Clifton were working in the beagle breeding business in the French country and performing in pedigree shows. To me, it doesn’t feel very glamorous, but who knows what her previous life really was like.

Anyway, it’s not the first time that the Puppet Master gets caught… He already received a life sentence for his past crimes. He was freed after the conviction was overturned by the court of appeals. Who knows if they’ll manage to keep him, this time.

The Be Good Tanyas

The other day, as we were (re-re-re-)watching Breaking Bad during diner, I noticed the song Waiting Around to Die by The Be Good Tanyas. I already knew this great cover of the original song from Towns Van Zandt thanks to a game that we both completed not so long ago: The Walking Dead – The Final Season.

Lately, video games make me discover more music than… Well, it seems that video games are my only source of music since, you know, radios are dead.

We’ve Reached The End

It started 15 years ago, maybe more, I’m not certain, but I remember buying the first book… It was in Brussels and we were about to have some time off at home. As usual, we were stockpiling cool stuff for our holidays and we purchased the first tome of The Walking Dead. Yesterday evening, I’ve finally read the last page of the last book. Now, I feel sad at the idea that there won’t be another book to purchase for our next holidays. On the other hand, I’m very happy with the end and I’m glad that Robert Kirkman could bring it to the conclusion that he wanted.

I gave up on the TV Show a few years ago. It was not good, too slow and over dramatic, but the comic books are amazing from the first page to the last. I’ll probably read them again, one of these days…

Also, the 16 books fit in a single Kallax cube. Coincidence? I think not.

Simply Horrible

So we got our third shot of vaccine last Friday and it sucked! We both had a swelling on our right lymph node and it’s still hurts (even though it looks better).

Anyway, we wanted to use our Covid Safe Ticket (for the first time), so we went to the city center to eat at the brand new KFC. Neither of us ever ate KFC but since it’s new and it has a nice NYC style, we thought that we could try…

  1. The city center of Brussels has been overrun by the worth filth I’ve ever seen. People walking on dirty socks in the street in middle of the winter, aggressive beggars at every corner, homeless converting the Main Street into a giant bedroom,… In short, avoid it if you can;
  2. KFC is disgusting. Seriously that food has the consistency of Cthulhu’s tentacles, rubbed in grease and with a nasty taste;
  3. They didn’t even check our Covid Safe Ticket and no safety rule was respected.

We both ran home, brushed our teeth, fought the nausea and promised that we’d never go again.

Change Of Scenery

This week, we did one of the saddest thing, we removed the Christmas decoration. The place feels empty and cold without our tree and we’ve already started to count down until next November. After all, what is a year if not an eleven month wait for December?

On the other hand, since the Lego Christmas village is gone, we finally could build the Millennium stand we bought from Wicked Brick and put the Falcon on display.

The spaceship is huge and heavy (7541 pieces) and the stand does a fantastic job at holding it safely. The detail is great and we also enjoy the character stand.

So, even if we’re still suffering of post-December blues, a spaceship is all it took to cheer us up. See, we’re simple people!

Catching Back On December

We’ve done so many cool things, played so many games and watched so many movies and TV shows during our month off that it’s gonna take a while to recap everything. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to cover all that in posts… Also, getting back online after such an amazing time is difficult, it’s as if I need time to boot my system first. I feel old, lol.

Where Were We At Midnight?

As usual, we’ve spent New Year’s Eve at home in our clean PJs, eating a ton of food prepared by Sisqi and watching movies. We first watched Nobody (with Bob Odenkirk) and it was great, then we’ve watched No Time to Die and it was amazing.

At midnight, we logged into our Animal Crossing Islands where we enjoyed the fireworks with the other residents.

We hope that you (the few who have found their way here) had a great evening and we wish you an amazing year 2022.
